It has been a crazy few weeks since races and I am still busy replying to all your messages. The Birdsville Races Fashions on the Field event was fantastic. The ladies and gentlemen were dressed impeccably and I was very impressed. Again, the stakes were high for Best Dressed. Today, I will go through what I wore.
I had the Novelty event on the Friday and I wore a gorgeous linen jumpsuit from Zulily from the Lila Kass brand. It was my first purchase from this website and I was very impressed. Zulily is a promotion website for many brands, they email you offers daily and I picked this up for $90AUD. It was very comfortable and with temperatures at 30 degrees plus, it was surprisingly cool. My headpiece was made by a good friend of mine from Ireland, Derek Montgomery Millinery, you will find him on facebook and instagram; @montgomerymillinery or check out his shop in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland. Derek designed this piece for a dress I wore for my brother’s wedding 2 years ago. It is very comfortable to wear and the colour is a bright navy so works well with my preferred colours. My earrings were from Boho Queen Jewellery who I have collaborated with. You will also find them on instagram @bohoqueenjewelry. I wore a gorgeous pair of shoes I also purchased for my brother’s wedding. I found them in Swarbriggs, Mullingar (@swarbriggshoes). I finished off my outfit with a new bag from Colette Hayman.
On Saturday I wore a gorgeous lace coral dress which had the short and long hemline which I purchased online for $200AUD. I bought this from TBDress online, it was surprisingly comfortable as the temperatures were in the high 30 degrees. I did have the dress altered as it was too long and they added two breast covers which looked silly. I had the hem altered and pads removed and it fitted perfectly. I accessorised with earrings from Ezibuy and a pearl detail clutch from TB Dress online. I wore a pair of grey New Look heels which are a few years old. I found a similar pair in plain grey from ASOS. I loved my fascinator, I purchased it from @millinery and Racewear for sale – Australia on facebook, the milliner was Moh Deest. It is unusual with a felt finish which was a bit more Winter than spring but I loved it anyway. The gold detail crown on top makes it very unique. Lastly, I had a lovely pearl flower costume bracelet which I purchased from @primark a long time ago.
I was delighted to have some important people co-host my event. Sam Mac from Sunrise weather co-hosted the Novelty event on Friday. On Saturday I welcomed Their Excellencies, the Governor-General of the Commenwealth of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Cosgrove. Lady Cosgrove presented the Best Dressed Ladies and Gentlemen prizes. The Ladies and Gentlemen who won their event were fantastic and set a high standard. Below are a few of my favourites.
Best Dressed Classic Lady 2017 – Larissa Maunsell
Best Dressed Contemporary Lady 2017 – Caitlyn Gardner

My judges had a very hard job this year and I was very appreciative of the hard decisions they had to make on the day.
A big thank you to Salty Dingo for the fantastic photos and allowing me to use them.
